Today we went to the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. It was a bit of a disappointment. This was the last day and there seemed to be very few people in attendance. Much of this boat show is megayachts, and you can’t go near them without an invitation and a broker in tow. There were also a lot of smaller yachts and fishing boats. There was still a lot to see, and we picked up quite a few flyers, but all we bought were two $6 smoothies.
Tonight, we are getting a parade of megayachts being pulled by towboats down the river. We think there must be a big boatyard farther down the river. We’re not sure where they go, but it’s fun watching them, especially at night. Sometimes they have the interior lights on so we can see the plush rooms.
The photo above is our slip at Sailboat Bend in the New River Marina which stretches along the shore of the narrow, deep New River. This is the third time we’ve been here, but the first in this slip. The other two times we have been just around the corner. We have a mini park next to us, under the trees, with some park benches.
Tomorrow we rent a car for a week. On Wednesday, I’ll get Jennifer and bring her here to visit with us until Monday.
