Part of the day we had good wind and were able to make 6-7 kts. motorsailing. However, in the afternoon the wind speed and direction changed so we slowed down considerably. Still we made it here with plenty of daylight left. The Ponce de Leon Inlet marked channel is very narrow with jetties. A few feet out of the channel and there is a likelihood of going aground. While the wind didn’t cooperate today, we had 4 ft swells during the morning but in the afternoon, the ocean was smooth. It was a very comfortable sailing day.
Now that we are back in Florida, we have to pick and choose our beaches carefully, as dogs are not usually allowed on them. For some reason they are here, at least on the beaches by the anchorage. They probably are banned from the ocean beach. We are in a small area off the ICW and this beach is very close for Daisy’s walks.
The wind isn’t great tomorrow, but we’ll probably leave early for Port Canaveral. Once again, we’ll need to be ready to leave by sunrise as we have limited number of daylight hours at this time of year.
