Preparing to Leave St. Augustine

The photo above shows the Bridge of Lions which is being rebuilt. Presently cars are using a temporary bridge which has a lift bridge in the middle. We are anchored on the north side of the bridge, but today we raised our anchor and went under it to get fuel at the municipal marina.
Before we did that, we decided to take a bus or cab six miles to a Starbucks and Publix Grocery. The buses run infrequently, and everyone told us the cabs are “real cheap” here, around $4 or $5 to go anywhere. We decided to save some time and take a cab. The driver was very nice, but we watched as the cost on his meter went up and up and up. Thirteen dollars later we reached Starbucks and the grocery store. Needless to say, after drinking our frappuccinos and getting groceries we waited for the “Sunshine Bus.” We got on and were told we would be going to the end of the line and back and then transferring to another bus back to downtown St. Augustine. We took the 1 1/2 hour ride in the nice air conditioned bus and saw much of the surrounding area. But....we did save money.
By the time we got back, our new (used) sail had arrived from Ft. Lauderdale. We ended up buying back the one which came on Seas the Day on her sail from France last year. It had a small tear when our boat arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, so we were given a new one. They repaired and kept the old one, which we now have back for a mere $800.
After getting fuel and water at the marina, we came back under the bridge and anchored in the same spot. Tomorrow, Mark will get up at 5:30 am, and take Daisy for a walk via dinghy. (We pay $10 a day to tie up at a dinghy dock at the municipal marina. This also entitles us to use the laundry, showers, and restrooms.)
As soon as it is light, we’ll start off for a 45 mile sail to Ponce de Leon Inlet and our anchorage in Rock Creek.
