I guess if you have to be somewhere to wait, Hilton Head is not a bad place. We arrived here on Wednesday afternoon and will be staying at least through Monday. In the photo above, Mark is checking out the water to see if he could go under the boat and scrape barnacles off the props. That is one possibility for the slow progress we made coming to Hilton Head from Charleston. Mark decided the water is just too dark, and then there are those alligators. (Someone at a local golf course had his arm bitten off a few days ago and there are signs along all the bike paths to watch for them.) Therefore, we have hired someone to come Monday morning to clean the bottom and scrape the barnacles off the props. Mark has tried a number of other “fixes” but so far isn’t satisfied that we are going to get full power.

Today we rode into town again to find a hardware store. Then of course we stopped for a frappuccino. The barrista had only seen us once and remembered our order. Usually it takes several weeks.
We think we can ride our bikes to a local mall and a movie theater this weekend. That is, if the rain stops.
